Madison Survivor Launches National Sexual Assault Resource Website

What began with one TikTok video and a solidarity profile photo became iamjanedoeofficial.com, a resource for survivors to find answers, support, and ways to advocate for change without identifying themselves.

MADISON, Wis., Oct. 22, 2026 — Katie Wilkins, a Madison-based marketing professional and survivor of sexual assault, has launched iamjanedoeofficial.com, an independent website bringing together sexual assault education, resources across all 50 states, information about survivor rights, and ways to stand in solidarity without personal disclosure.

The project began when Wilkins posted a TikTok video showing support for Jane Doe in the Cornell University case. Wilkins recalls finding no posts under #iamjanedoe when she first searched for it. She had an idea: women could use a shared profile photo and hashtag to show solidarity without having to explain their own experiences.

Her original video went on to reach millions of viewers, and thousands of women responded with stories, questions, and things they wished they had known. Requests followed for T-shirts and other merchandise featuring the artwork. Wilkins decided the response deserved something more lasting.

“People started asking how they could buy things with the image, and I kept thinking about all these women who had just shared something incredibly personal,” Wilkins said. “I didn’t want to just put something on a shirt and make money. I wanted to actually DO something.”

She created a mission around four priorities: VISIBILITY. SOLIDARITY. ACCOUNTABILITY. JUSTICE. She then began researching sexual assault medical examinations, evidence preservation, reporting options, criminal statutes of limitations, untested rape kits, trauma, and the services available in each state.

Wilkins built the website around a question from her own life: What would she have wanted to know if her frightened 19-year-old self had been looking for help?

“I wanted it to feel like walking into a giant hug,” Wilkins said. “Somewhere you could just look around, feel seen, learn something you didn’t know, get an answer to a question you’ve been carrying, and find help if you need it. You shouldn’t have to explain what happened to you just to find information.”

The site features Learn From Survivors, National Resources, State-by-State Resources, Justice Shouldn’t Expire, and Our Mission. The site connects visitors to existing organizations including RAINN, End the Backlog,

the National Network to End Domestic Violence, and federal and state resources; listing does not imply affiliation.

Learn From Survivors began as an idea for sharing personal accounts, but Wilkins reconsidered the privacy risks of collecting sensitive stories. Instead, the page organizes the questions, practical information, and lessons survivors wanted others to know, with links to established sources and professional support.

“We can share what we’ve learned without collecting everyone’s trauma,” Wilkins said. Visitors can also download the original solidarity profile artwork in multiple languages. Original merchandise offers another way to participate by showing solidarity through wearing messages of support. Proceeds are intended to support continued website development, new educational resources, and future community events. Wilkins hopes the project will help end the stigma around having conversations about sexual assault and eventually raise enough to contribute to local and national survivor-advocacy organizations.

“We’re all Jane Doe, until none of us are.”

About the website

WE'RE ALL JANE DOE,
UNTIL NONE OF US ARE.

Created by Katie Wilkins in October 2026, iamjanedoeofficial.com is an independent, survivor-led website dedicated to helping people find information, understand their options, and access resources related to sexual assault, abuse, coercion, and sexual violence.

The website grew from the outpouring of solidarity for Jane Doe in the Cornell University case, and the questions raised as thousands of women shared their experiences. Katie personally researched and reviewed established resources, educational information, and advocacy opportunities to bring them together in one place.

No one has to share their story or identify themselves as a survivor to use the website or stand in solidarity.

Our connection to the Cornell Jane Doe case

AN IMPORTANT DISTINCTION.

The website was inspired by the solidarity shown to Jane Doe in the Cornell University case.

Katie Wilkins and iamjanedoeofficial.com are not affiliated with Jane Doe in that case, her attorneys, Cornell University, or any party to the legal proceedings.

The website does not represent or speak on behalf of Jane Doe, and it does not claim ownership of the broader hashtag or solidarity movement.

The profile photo is a symbol of support. Using it does not mean someone is identifying themselves as a survivor or disclosing a personal experience.

The website's focus extends beyond any one case to the information, resources, and support survivors deserve.

About the creator

KATIE WILKINS.

Katie Wilkins is a Madison, Wisconsin-based marketing and communications professional who runs Underpin Media (opens in a new tab) and created iamjanedoeofficial.com.

After reading thousands of comments from women sharing their experiences, she researched questions survivors had raised, what they wished they'd known, and organizations offering support. She created the website to make that information easier to find in a welcoming, accessible place.

“I wanted this website to feel like walking into a giant hug. Somewhere a woman could look around, feel seen, find answers to questions she's been carrying, and know she isn't alone. I can't change what happened to any of us, but if something we've learned can help another woman, then sharing that knowledge matters.”
